8.122 Tradition

The next morning, the Pruett household was still brimming with excitement from the previous night’s event. Brady was the first one up and grabbed himself of a plate of leftover eggs and toast. He was hungry but couldn’t eat. He just sat there immersed in his thoughts and pride. Viviana was the same way when she joined him.

When she sat down, his thoughts shifted from being proud of his son to the first memories of his relationship with Viviana. He remembered seeing her at the gym from time to time and thought that she was a cute young girl. After they had begun dating and were getting serious, he remembered how afraid he was to lose her if she couldn’t handle his insanity. She graciously accepted the dark side of him which led him to propose shortly after. He wasn’t nervous at all when he asked her because he knew she would say yes. Now, two careers and four kids later, he loved her more this day than he did the day she said yes to him.

“Our son is finally getting married, angel,” Brady said. “Why did it take so long?”

“It’s not like he’s an old man, sugar bear. It probably just feels long because she has always been around, and we knew from the beginning.”

“I suppose,” Brady said and took a few bites of his food. “I wonder why they haven’t tried for a baby yet. I mean, she’s been living here. That’s stable enough, right?”

“Well…if you recall, we did the same thing! I was living here, but we never tried for a baby until after we were married too.”

“Hmmm, you’re right. Why do you think that is?”

“I don’t know. Maybe…tradition? Although we’re not traditional, maybe there are still elements of tradition that we respect?”

“You’re so smart, my angel. How did I ever end up with you?”

“Weeell…it all started long time ago when there was this trainer I wanted to meet…”
