8.31 Aunt Robyn

Ever since Robyn first found out about Viviana, she kept her distance. Mostly out of respect for her, but also to deal with her own feelings on the matter. However, she didn’t let her personal life interfere with keeping in touch with the family. Well, she didn’t let it interfere much. Basically that means she had not been by since the incident. But, she had been missing her brother and her nephews and decided it would be a good time to come and show her face.

Brady had been swimming before he came inside to eat dinner. Robyn also came in the kitchen hoping to find everyone having dinner, but they had already eaten. All she found was a shirtless, broad-shouldered, bulging-bicepped, six-packed Brady. This was going to be harder than she thought.

“Hi,” she said shyly.

“Hello.”

“…Umm…oh, congratulations on your marriage! I’m happy for you. I really am,” she said truthfully.

After realizing how much damage she caused him, she really was glad to find out that he found someone that made him happy…after she got over the jealousy, of course.

“Thank you. Look, Robyn, if you came over here to–”

“I came to visit my family, that’s all. I know I’m the last person in the world you want to talk to. I’m done trying to control you and casually run into you and all that other crap I did. I don’t expect you to forgive me, but I’m really sorry for how I treated you. All that stuff you said about me…I realized that it was true. I’m so sorry. I just want you to be happy now.”

Brady wasn’t certain how to react to that. “Thank you” wasn’t really appropriate, but yet he wasn’t ready to say the words “I forgive you” yet. But, he did appreciate hearing that she finally accepted ownership for partially ruining his life.

“I’ll go find the boys for you,” he finally said.

Meanwhile, outside…

“Viv, I am so sorry for Devan’s behavior tonight. I’m not sure what’s gotten into him!”

“It’s ok, Alayna. He’s 15!”

“Fifteen…holy cow plants! Am I really old enough to have a 15-year-old? Don’t answer that!”

“I think he’s sweet. A bit outspoken sometimes, but sweet.”

“Hmmm…just like his father. I see where this is going.”

“Can I ask you something?”

“Uh oh…you got serious on me. What’s up?”

“I don’t really know how to ask you this, or if I even should, but you know I’m a straight shooter…”

“And I like that! What’s going on?”

“I know that Robyn is part of your family, and she’ll be around sometimes….Do I need to worry about her?”

“Oh…I hadn’t really thought of that.”

Alayna thought about it. She and Robyn were never really friends, but of course she had gotten to know her better now that they are sisters-in-law. Brady never really talked to her about her much, but she knew she made him miserable. But, from what little knew about her, she couldn’t believe that Robyn would do anything to sabotage Brady and Viviana. Besides, once she and Roland and the children moved out, Robyn shouldn’t be visiting the Pruett Estate anymore anyway.

“There’s nothing to worry about. I’m sure of it,” Alayna said.

Back inside, Robyn was hanging with her nephews while they did their homework.

“Aunt Robyn, how come you don’t come play with us anymore,” Anthony asked.

She was definitely caught off guard by this. She didn’t think they would notice her absence.

“I, ummm…well, I’ve been a little, uhhh…it’s complicated.”

“What’s complicated about it?”

“Ummmm…”

“He he he…you’re in trouuuuble, Aunt Robyn,” Devan laughed.
