Chapter 41: The Craziest Day

I’m glad I’m still relatively young and definitely young at heart because I’m not sure an “old” man would have been able to take this day.

First of all, it saddened me a great deal to learn that Ava passed away shortly after our conversation. She will always and forever be my best friend, and she is already greatly missed. Apparently, Jaxson is also not doing well, and his time is growing short as well, according to Cory. Keep the Broussard family in your prayers!

I’m very proud to announce that yesterday my lovely daughter Jasmine, and her boyfriend Joshua, had their baby! I am the very proud GRANDFATHER of a beautiful baby girl!! Her name is Mackinzie Pruett.

I’m not quite sure what this child is going to grow up to be like because she is proving to be very high maintenance already! I have NEVER seen a baby cry as much as her. She started crying shortly after she was born and she cried–literally–ALL afternoon! We fed her, we changed her, we entertained her, and we comforted her, but she just was not happy. It was an all hands on deck kind of night, but eventually she went to sleep.

I asked Jazzy why she had taken Mackinzie outside, and she said that the voices said that Mackinzie needed to be presented to the world. Go figure. It was also these voices that “told” her to give her such a strange name. My poor child. I must say that I should apologize to her for saying that she was  unfit to be a mother. That was a horrible thing for me to say, and Jasmine has been a great mom so far. Oh! Joshua got a job! He’s not making much, but at least he’s stepping up and being a man.

I started my biography today. I’m calling it “The Crazy Train!”

My baby boy is now a teen!

I must say he has a different look. I mean, he kinda looks like a Pruett, but he doesn’t exactly look like Dee either. I dunno, but I’m glad he picked up a good trait! I’m going to make sure he develops good skills so he can be in a prime position to succeed in his career when he leaves the house.

Speaking of leaving the house…I found this note in Jayla’s room when I got home from work today.

Dear Mom and Dad,
I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’m gone by now. Or maybe you haven’t because no one seems to notice or care what I do. I know that’s not entirely true, but that’s the way it feels sometimes. Besides, there are WAY too many people in that house! I couldn’t breathe or think straight. I hope you don’t mind that I took 20,000 simoleons out of the account to buy my place and pay the first few bills until I get promoted a few times. Oh, and Dad, I know you don’t approve of my job, but at least I have one! Anyway, I’m just down the street, and I would love for you guys to come visit me. I’m sure I’ll be back soon. Sorry I left this way, but I think this is the best thing for me right now. I love you guys.

Jayla

Well I’ll be! I was sad and proud at the same time. For someone to be as childish as her, this was a very mature decision! Yes, I hate that one of my babies doesn’t feel loved and wanted to leave, but I’m glad she made that decision on her own without any catalyst like a big argument or something. I’m proud of you Jayla!

To end this crazy 24 hours, look at what my big man did!

Way to go son! I was right in the next room when he proposed and she happily accepted. I couldn’t stop smiling. Of course, the girl was going on and on about the diamond. I hope he knows what he’s doing!
