Chapter 67: What We Have Here is a Failure to Communicate

On Amira’s next off day, Giancarlo decided to let the Pruett’s babysit while he ventured into the park. He was still thinking about Bianca’s suggestion from months ago about making extra money. The house was cleaned, and garden tended, so he thought it would be a good day to leave the house. He packed up his violin and went to Magnolia Blossom Park. When he arrived, he was surprised to see a few family members.

“Hey, Brittany! How are you? I’m so sorry to hear about your mother.”

“Yeah…it’s really hard. I’ll get through it though.”

“Of course you will.”

“How is your music coming along?”

“Great! Actually, I came out here to see what kind of response I’d get. You know…make sure I’m on the right track. I hear your music is outstanding! You’re like famous now!”

“Yeah. It was my dream.”

“Heeeey, look who it is! Little cousin Kolby! Shouldn’t you be in school?”

“Dude…I graduated!”

“What? I mean, congrats! Did you have a party? We would have love to come.”

“Nah. We’ve been keeping to ourselves since dad died.”

“Uncle Jared is dead,” Brittany yelled.

“How come no one tells anyone anything in this family? Man, I’m very sorry to hear that, Kolby. I know it must have been hard for you guys.” Giancarlo said.

“Yeah. We’re ok now.”

“Serena! Come join us! What is this, a family reunion,” Giancarlo said.

“Hey guys! It’s soo sad about Uncle Jared, isn’t it,” Serena asked.

“Kolby here just dropped the bomb on us,” Brittany said.

“I was at The Solar Flare one night, and Asia was working there and she told me.”

“Asia works at The Solar Flare,” Giancarlo asked.

“Dude…where’ve you been? She’s like a big time mixologist now. You guys should leave the estate more,” Kolby said.

“Yeah…I see that.”

Kolby was right. Life at the Pruett Estate was life at the Pruett Estate. Nothing else existed outside of the estate, including family. Although Giancarlo was not in charge of the estate, he felt he should do something about it, but he didn’t know what. He tucked that thought away for another time.

“Hey guys…it was great to see you all. I want to be home when Bianca gets there, so I need to get started.”

He stepped aside, opened his case, tightened and rosined his bow, tuned his violin, and performed.

As it was the middle of the day, there weren’t a large number of people in the park, but the few people that were there loved him. He decided that he would definitely do this again soon. He got home slightly later than he wanted and went and found Bianca in her office.

“Guess who made some money today,” he excitedly said.

“You went to the park?”

“Yep! I made 72 simoleons. Oh yeah! Seventy two sim-o-le-ons, playing my gig was oh so fun, making that bacon oh so fresh, people like me-oh yeah-who’s next,” he sang and danced around the room.

“I’m proud of you, babe!”

That night, a special guest came by the house to meet the twins. While Bianca was showing off her children, Amira showing off hers to her son.

“You’re gonna be a big brother, Lance!”

“COOOL!”

“Does this mean I get to be in charge?”

11-21-14_8-55 PM

“Not yet. You’re going to be nice to your sister or brother, right?”

“Ok.”

11-21-14_8-54 PM-2

“I love you, Lance. I know you’re gonna be a great big brother.”

The special guest was Asia, and luckily Giancarlo had spread the news before Asia showed up.

“ASIA! It’s soo good to see you! Giancarlo told me about Uncle Jared. I’m sorry! I would have come by if I knew.”

11-21-14_8-52 PM

“Don’t worry about it. I didn’t want to bother you with it. Actually, you may have been in the hospital at the time. I’m fine. Please, don’t worry yourself. Now where are these precious babies I’ve been hearing about??”

Bianca had mixed feelings as she led Asia to the nursery. She was sad that she didn’t get to say goodbye to Jared, but she was happy that Asia could meet her girls.

“This is Cadence Marie! Say, ‘hi Auntie Asia!’ Uh oh…she is a little mad because I woke her up. She’s probably hungry too.”

11-21-14_8-57 PM

“And this is Melody Christina!”

11-21-14_8-58 PM

“Good heavens,” she said quietly as she began to tear up. “They are soo beautiful! I’m so proud! I don’t know if I’ll live long enough to see my own grandkids, but at least I’ve seen these two cuties. Oh! I’m soo happy for you!!”

Cadence began fussing, and of course, Melody needed a diaper change at the same time. Bianca picked up Cadence to feed her.

“Here…let me get Little Miss Melody for you,” Asia said.

“It’s ok, Asia. You don’t have to do that.”

“Bianca, please. I’m the closest thing to a grandmother these girls will ever know. Let me help you!”

11-21-14_8-59 PM

“Hey there, poopsie whoopsie! Aren’t you just precious,” Asia cooed.

11-21-14_9-01 PM

“Thank you, Asia.

“Don’t mention it. I’m gonna come by more often. I don’t expect you to come down my way with the two adorable babes.”

“I know…but we still need to get out and see everyone. I think we’ve been wrapped up in our own lives too much.”

The next morning, Giancarlo was up early tending to his daughters. He was taken by surprise by how demanding they were this day and was a little frazzled. They both were hungry, needed changing, and attention. He was so frazzled he couldn’t decide what he needed to do first. He cuddled them, played with them, and even tried singing to them, but they still weren’t satisfied.

“Why do babies cry so much,” Lance asked.

“They need something. I just don’t know what.”

11-21-14_9-10 PM

Please stop crying

Your father is trying

To work it out for yooooou

You try to break me

But do not mistake me

My love for you is truuuuue!

“Ahhh, yes…silence! Girls…they’ll do anything if you sing to them!”
