Extreme Makeover: Pruett Edition

Howdy folks! Before I get started on this weekend’s updates, I have to show you what I’ve done to the Pruett Estate. You know I can’t leave it alone for long. But, before I do that, I just want to give a quick shout out to all of the new readers!! Hey guys! I’m so glad to have you join us on this crazy dramatic journey :-).

We have had some pretty dynamic families in this story. I have several “favorite” families, but…I have to say that the current family is probably the most close knit family yet. Alayna, Roland, and their sons behave the most family-like out of all the families we’ve seen so far–and that’s a lot of families! This family also has the highest relationship meters ever. Naturally, I don’t capture every waking event in these chapters, but their family dynamics is just as legit “off camera” as you see it in these chapters. I’ve never seen children have so many whims to interact with parents and vice versa. It’s been truly amazing and makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside. This is what has inspired the makeover.

In real life, I like a house with rooms. I’m not a fan open floor plans. I like to feel like I’m going somewhere when I leave a room. I like to have options when I want to hang out somewhere. You have one option with open floor plans. So, that is how I construct most houses I build–and download. But, I started noticing a problem. The Pruetts have way too many choices when it comes down to where to eat their dinner. Some of them eat in the kitchen at the island while others choose to eat in the dining room, outside, or in front of the TV. This family doesn’t need any help spending time together, but I didn’t like that they were so separated at meal times. I grew up in a house where dinner time was family time–and you didn’t skip it or miss it for any reason. I’m not that strict with the Sims, but I felt like I would be doing them a favor by creating a space that was more conducive for family moments–and I was right. 🙂

I tore down the wall between the kitchen and the dining room and made it one huge room! I also brought the bar inside. It rarely ever got used even when a mixologist was hired at parties. This makeover was probably the most minor of all the ones I’ve done, but I think that this was probably the best one because of the results it has yielded. So, enjoy the new space! The Pruetts certainly are.
