“Come in! You look awesome! What sparked this?”
“You know it had everything to do with Imani and Lakeisha.”
The two friends giggled.
“They took me out for my birthday. They said I needed to look less pathetic.”
“Those two sound like lots of trouble,” Melody said.
“You know it. I really want you to meet them, Mel. They’re crazy, but…they’re fun. You could definitely use some fun right now.”
Melody’s eyes sunk into their lids. “I’m sorry I missed your birthday. I wasn’t ready.”
“I know, Mel. I know. I knew you weren’t going to come. But… it’s been a month. You can’t stay cooped up in here forever. Please? Just one night out.”
