Joneses – 13.7 Thank You

“Mom? Are you ok?”

“I’m fine,” she spat. “How was school?”

Breanne had never her mother so pissed off before. Something must have seriously been wrong. She felt sorry for her and wished there was something she could do to make her feel better. Her mother was in desperate need of some sunshine. When she was little, her accomplishments always did the trick. Hopefully she still felt the same way.

“I’m still making all A’s.”

“That’s wonderful, dear. Keep doing excellent work.”

The accomplishments only halfway worked. She needed something more.

“Mom?”

“Yes, my dear.” There was such tiredness and frustration in her voice.

“Would it…would it make things better if I helped out more?”

Eliza looked like she would burst into tears at any moment. She embraced her and squeezed tight. “Oh, Breanne. That would be wonderful. Thank you.”

“You’re such a wonderful child. Thank you.”

“…ok…you can let go of me now.”
