Between Devan and Leliana, her feelings were always stronger. Even still, she found herself sinking deeper into the ocean of love with each passing day. She had gotten to the point where she couldn’t stand to be without him. Additionally, her past had begun to haunt her, and she was sad during the day when Devan was at work. Leaving the house helped, so, each day, she went for a jog or a leisurely walk. Other times she would just sit by the river and enjoy the view. That was her favorite one. Hearing the water wash over the bank calmed her mind and allowed happy thoughts to come through. They were still of Devan, but at least she wasn’t sad.
But, as of late, her happy, relaxing moments were disturbed by unpleasant sensations. At first she thought it was all in her head. She had started to get the feeling that she was being watched. Willow Creek was a small town, so perhaps it was coincidence that she saw the same people in the same places every day, right?
There are no coincidences. She really did see the same man every day!
Was it the government? Had they found her? How could they? This world was in a completely different space and time. There was no way they could have found the coordinates she used to calibrate the wormhole. They couldn’t have! Maybe he was just an old retired man who had a daily walk just like she did. But she knew better. She knew how they worked. She knew they had their ways. Don’t trust anyone…that’s what Belle said, she thought.
It was painful. She didn’t know whether she was right or wrong, but she knew she was scared. She wished Devan was there to hold her and tell her everything would be fine. He was always so confident. She needed him to tell her that she suffered a traumatic experience and she was just still dealing with the effects from it and would be fine over time. She wanted to believe it, but she couldn’t. She just couldn’t.
