3D: Baecation

After months of watching her plan, and listening to gripes and groans of frustration, the time finally arrived for Maya to witness her little sister walk down the aisle and wed the love of her life. The forbidden union was the most anticipated event of the year, and she was the most excited about Aubrey’s next chapter. Every time she imagined her living in that mansion snuggling next to Julio, an unbreakable smile transformed her face. Maya was so proud of her little sister. Aubrey worked so hard for everything she accomplished from her stellar grades to her successful business. She deserved every good thing which came her way. Also, she and Julio dated for what felt like forever and never had sex. Though it was weird to think about, Maya was most excited for her to finally experience the magic of intimacy.

She also grew impatient for the sweet, free vacation. Work had Maya on the ropes. The CEO stepped down, and the board named her the interim CEO, or “Spin Doctor” as they called it internally. She never wanted that job and had no clue what gave them the idea she’d be interested. The bump in pay was really sweet though.

Julio scheduled everyone’s flight a week before the wedding to relax and enjoy themselves before the rehearsals and ceremony, and Maya took full advantage of it. Ranveer was her plus one, naturally, and thoughts of all the wonderful, uninterrupted time they would have together filled her head like suds in dish water. They could spend all night showering each other with love and affection between the sheets. The mornings could be as lazy as they wanted. They could sleep ’til noon if they wanted and order room service. “Baecation.” That’s what she named the trip. Why had they never vacationed together before? It’s not like they couldn’t afford it. With all the money she saved from living at home, they could travel for a month or more.

The ocean front hotel and restaurant were a stone’s throw from the shipyard, so #Manveer went for a stroll after the rehearsal dinner to watch the boats dock. Being on the island reminded her of the first and only family vacation to Windenburg. Aubrey was so young then and amazed by the ocean. “Look at all that water,” she yelled as the taxi approached the dock to catch the ferry. Now, that wide-eyed, easily amazed girl was a grown woman making her own mark on the world. #soproud

Ranveer snaked his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder as they stood on the gangway watching sailboats. A refreshing breeze brushed their faces like the cool blast after opening a freezer. Rustling leaves in tandem with lapping water created sweet accompaniment for such a perfect moment.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked.

Nothing occupied her thoughts at the moment, but the opportunity was perfect for the one thing which plagued her for the last few months. She planned to wait until after the wedding, but now was a good time as ever. “Not much … But, I wanted to talk to you at some point, though.”

His squinted grin beamed as bright at the moonlight. “Ooh, this is going to be great. I can feel it!”

Her silly goofball never disappointed. Their future was bound to be filled side-hurting laughter.

As she tried to form a statement, the words got caught in her throat. This was huge. One of the most important decisions she’d ever made. “I, uhh…”

The anticipation in his eyes made her even more nervous.

She cleared her throat. “When we get home, I want to find a real estate agent.”

His almond-shaped eyes were as round as macarons. “Does that mean…”

She nodded, and pressure built up behind her eyes. Why? Maybe it was a bigger deal than she knew.

He grabbed her by the waist and spun around. “I’m so happy! This is so cool!”
