3D: Family Reunion

The Pruett family may have morphed and evolved over time, but some things always remain the same. Every outing, every party still turns into a family reunion. Graham Pruett, Uncle Emerson’s son, was finally having his young adult birthday, and Katlin–his mother–threw a surprise party. She invited everyone over about an hour before school got out so they could surprise him when he got home. Here are some highlights.

The Guests:

As soon as Jonathan entered the house, he found his sister in the living room with her daughter. He raced to her and gave her a tight, warm hug. “I have to come to someone else’s house to see my sister? Gosh, Janessa. Is my kid so bad you leave the house every time I come over?”

Speaking of Oliver, he found a new friend in the bathroom. His name is Sergio Myles. He’s Katlin’s grandson, and he looks just like his father, Ethan. Jonathan didn’t always remember she had two children when she and Emerson met.

Oliver came looking for his parents asking to do flash cards.

“Oliver, honey,” Skyla said, “don’t you want to go play with Sergio?”

“Flashcards! I want flashcards!”

“I’m sorry, hon. I don’t feel like flashcards right now.”

Oliver let out a scream none of them had ever heard before, and Skyla panicked.

“But, how about a story instead?”

He smiled. “Ok!”

“You’re whipped,” Jonathan whispered.

“Shut up.”

Katlin came in to check on everyone…probably to see what the fuss was about.

“Katlin, you look wonderful,” Jonathan said.

“Oh you’re too kind!”

“So…your last baby is all growed up now,” he said. “How does it feel?”

“Oh, you don’t know how relieved I am to be here for this! My time should have come by now.”

Jonathan nodded. He didn’t know exactly how she felt, but he had an idea. He would have missed out on so much if he had not taken the youth potion.

In the kitchen, Janessa was getting the scoop on her nieces’ relationships. Maya was all too eager to spill the beans about Julio and Aubrey. Janessa tried to act supportive, but she wasn’t thrilled to learn who Julio was. Mark seemed surprised too.

Shortly, the front door opened, and they all realized someone should have been looking out for Graham.

“Uhhh….hey. What are you guys doing here? And why are you dressed up?”

Jonathan yelled surprise, and everyone fell into place.

“How does it feel to be a man?”

“Uhhh, cool, I guess.”
